2 Human Resource Management  The management of a wide range of responsibilities relating to the human (employees) function within a business, in order to increase both the employees’ and organisational efficiency  HR managers are responsible for workplace tasks that relate to the employment and retention of employees  Activity 8.1 Question 1

4 Key Performance Indicator HR management strategies linked to the achievement of business objectives Profit/reducing overall costs -HR Managers need to ensure that wages are appropriate and not too expensive -Training can also be costly Staff Satisfaction (staff turnover) -recruitment process is costly so retaining staff is essential -work/life balance strategies could assist in attracting and retaining staff Efficiency leading to increased productivity -if workers are properly trained their efficiency levels should increase Customer satisfaction -providing improved customer service through recruitment and selection, employee training and development, rewards and motivation Social responsibility -ensure legal compliance and improvements in areas such as equal opportunity OH&S, minority training and development programs Competitiveness-If workers are motivate they will work hard, leading to a more competitive organisation -LSOs have a reputation for providing good working conditions and career paths so will attract the highest quality applications giving them a competitive edge
