PSIC Grant Program Administered by National Telecommunications and Information Administration Strategic Technology Reserve (STR)  Requirement as a result of PL 110-53 (HR1)  Purpose is to pre-position or secure interoperable communications in advance for immediate deployment in an emergency or major disaster  STR must be capable of re-establishing communications when existing critical infrastructure is damaged or destroyed in an emergency or major disaster  Should include: appropriate equipment that moved to disaster site, equipment for key personnel, contracts for rapid delivery of commercial sources/services, training 9

PSIC Grant Program Administered by National Telecommunications and Information Administration STR Examples  Set aside equipment examples include: –LMR Subscriber units, repeaters –Cell Phones or Satellite-enabled equipment or Cell-On-Wheels –Self contained mobile communications sites, backup batteries, generators, fuel and IT gear  Pre-Identified procurement vehicles for: –Cross-jurisdictional communications support –Pre-negotiated commercial service contract –Pre-scripted mission assignments and disaster emergency communications plans  Already in use equipment may be consider that would fulfill an alternative role during an emergency 10
