3. PPE Small scale Batch System Aim to have small-scale compute resources with faster turnaround time than ECDF For larger scale workloads continue to ECDF resources If there is enough demand for the service will scale up the number of slots Already some usage in the last two weeks (170 jobs) No scheduling scheme in place – the only limit is 48 hour wallclock Would like feedback on the best queue configuration e.g. Does it make sense to have a short 1 hour queue?

4. Data Preservation Our old storage servers are out of warranty and the data needs to be archived This means any data on the following partitions: ardbeg5, basil3, lochnagar0, speyside4, speyside7, speyside8 Note: This does not include data on /Disk/ecdf-nfs-ppe Computing support recommends migrating and archiving all data from these servers to avoid any possibility of data loss A significant proportion can (presumably) be removed without archiving (e.g ATLAS LHCb, ROOT software releases) Lots of data from previous staff and students Performed preliminary bookkeeping to the assess scale of exercise Data from 33 staff and 16 students (current and former) ROOT files / experiment-based data dominates usage Oldest timestamp: Apr 18 1985 (eisenhar) Will send out an targeted email to users over the coming weeks to review data to be archived
