1 Haiti Relief Dailey Midgett English 9

2 Witnesses say it is extremely difficult to access the damage because there are hardly any passable roads, phone lines, and let along electricity. They estimated that 3 million people or more could be dead, injured, and/or homeless. Canada and France are sending in rescue teams to search, along with all there equipment. The UN is issuing an international appeal for funds. Hospitals are getting extremely over packed. (“How to help Haiti: Volunteer Opportunities and Global Relief Efforts”)

3 More groups and non-profits have begun to mobilize to save money. There are many different organizations we can go through to help with Haiti. For instance, MSF has been working in Haiti for 19 years. Just recently Drew Barrymore recorded an appeal to Americans about the MSF. (“Haiti earthquake relief”)

4 The FBI and National Center for Disaster Fraud have established a telephone hotline. They urgently need nurses. Some people say, “whatever you do, don’t donate anything but money.” To make and automatic $10 donation you can text “Haiti” to 90999. There are many other numbers you can text too. (“cbsnews”)
