2 2 Federal Aviation Administration November 3, 2010 Florida NextGen Test Bed Project Description Purpose –Provide a platform for NextGen concepts and technologies to be demonstrated and evaluated –Provide capability for rapid integration of prototypes –Integrate technologies from flight domains to allow multi-domain and end-to-end demonstrations & evaluations –Foster innovation & industry partnerships and allow governed access for industry users, government, and academia Methodology –Leverage on existing Florida Test Facility capabilities –Coordinate with other Test Bed sites and stakeholders for capability integration and information sharing –Expand Florida Test Bed in a phased approach

5 5 Federal Aviation Administration November 3, 2010 FTB Phased Deployment Approach Segment 1 (Begin FY09/10): Rapid Integration environment for Prototypes –Initial Test Bed Capability with limited test bed infrastructure –Standalone initial demonstration capability using recorded data only Segment 2 (Begin FY10/11): Add external & live data feeds –Basic agreements in place to receive initial external FAA data feeds –Test Bed infrastructure ready to receive and demonstrate with external data –Local support staff established for continual demonstration support Segment 3 (Begin FY11): Integrated demo with other NextGen sites –Data integration capability with WJH Tech Center and NASA NTX –Integration capability with Industry Supporters and Stakeholders
