2 Accommodation & Hospitality Services General COSHH training is provided before you begin working with our general daily use chemicals. You will have completed this training. In order to provide the highest standards of accommodation to our customer, ‘Deep cleans’ need to take place. For example: Mouldy bathrooms Limescale floor Sink & drain clearing The chemicals used for these cleans are stronger, and therefore you are more at risk of injury if used improperly. Why do I need this training?

5 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Taski Sani Mould Out Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Spray onto surface from 3-5 cm distance and leave to work for 30 minutes (stubborn stains may require you to repeat). 5.Clean the sprayed surface with sponge and water. 6.Wash hands after use.

7 Accommodation & Hospitality Services HG Mould Spray Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Spray onto surface from 3-5 cm distance and leave to work for 30 minutes (stubborn stains may require you to repeat). 5.Clean the sprayed surface with sponge and water. 6.Wash hands after use.

9 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Kettle & Shower Head Descaler Method of Use: 1.Remove kettle to Office/secure area. 2.Open windows/doors to improve ventilation. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Boil kettle & add descaler. Leave for designated time. – Make sure the kettle has a clear sign. 5.Rinse and boil the kettle twice with fresh water. 6.Wash hands after use.

11 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Lifeguard Limescale Remover Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.If using on a toilet, pump dry. 5.Pour the limescale remover onto affected area, and leave for designated amount of time. 6.Scrub with a deck scrubber or cleaning pad attached to a multi mop handle. 7.Rinse the floor with clean water, ensure that the floor is rinsed well with clean w removing the dirty water from the floor with a mop and allow to dry. 8.Wash hands after use.

13 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Viakal Liquid Gel Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Pour the limescale remover onto affected area, and leave for designated amount of time. 5.Scrub with a green pad. 6.Rinse the area with clean water. 7.Wash hands after use.

14 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Altro Floor Cleaner Area of Use: Altro flooring in Kitchens, Bathrooms & Corridors Risks: Irritating to eyes and skin Harmful if swallowed PPE: Protective Gloves Safety Glasses where splashing is probable Apron

15 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Altro Floor Cleaner Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Sweep up dust and dirt, remove large debris. 5.Apply Altro cleaner to the floor in the correct dilution and leave for several minutes(The dilution rate depends upon how dirty the floor is and the concentrate used). 6.Scrub with a deck scrubber or cleaning pad attached to a multi mop handle. 7.Rinse the floor with clean water, ensure that the floor is rinsed well with clean w removing the dirty water from the floor with a mop and allow to dry. 8.Wash hands after use.

17 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Mr Muscle Sink & Plug hole unblocker Method of Use: 1.Close area to be treated with appropriate signage. 2.Open windows/activate extractor fan. 3.Put on PPE. 4.Pour 500ml down drain. 5.Leave for 15 mins (Tough clogs will require to be left overnight). 6.Flush with hot water from tap/shower. 7.Wash hands after use.

18 Accommodation & Hospitality Services Storage & Disposal: ALL chemicals listed in this Powerpoint must NEVER be left unattended. Once finished with, they must be returned to the locked COSHH cabinet. Do not discharge of chemicals into drains, or pour into flower beds or grass. Use sluices where they are available, or flush away down a toilet as per the water disposal procedure for areas with no sluice. Use paper towels to absorb spillages, or soil can be used externally. Place this material into an appropriate container for disposal.

19 Accommodation & Hospitality Services First Aid Measures: Inhalation: Remove yourself from source of exposure to fresh air, rest and consult a Doctor. Skin Contact: Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water, remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing, or there are signs of tissue damage. Eye Contact: Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eyelids for 15 minutes, seek medical attention. Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water, get medical attention. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING IMPORTANT – Inform your line manager so an Accident & Near miss form can be completed
