10 Ruth Ruth is named after a Moabite woman who was joined to the Israelite people by marriage. It tells of the devotion of a foreign girl to her Jewish mother-in-law and her conversion to the Jewish faith. It was written after the exile 4 th to 5 th BC, though this is debated because of the mention of the time of the Judges. Moab is a neighbor country to Israel.
