3 Grammar Translation Method  Use of translation and grammar study as the main teaching and learning activities.  Reading and writing  Students are taught in their mother tongue.  Grammar is taught deductively.

4  CLT is an approach.  Communication  Students interact primarily with each other rather than with the teacher.  Students give and receive information. Communicative Language Teaching

5  CLT is successful in other countries.  Current application of the CLT approach in Bangladesh is still questionable.  Teachers used to teaching grammar rules and conducting drills have difficulty seeing the value in CLT activities.  The application of CLT is limited to the syllabus and curriculum only.  Grammar Translation Method still in practice in the name of the CLT in Bangladesh.
