3 MACRO LEVEL MEZZO LEVEL MICRO LEVEL Where most effects of the project are achieved. Building capacity for Government Departments and network organizations. Supports the development national children and youth legislation, policy and frameworks APPROACHES

4 GTZ PROSYR SUPPORT TO THE YES KENYA 2000-2006 ObjectivesActivities Supported 1) To Promote knowledge transfer and experience sharing amongst government officers and youth advocates. 2) To Provide international experience in order to facilitate local benchmarking of youth Interventions. 3) To promote networking between youth lead organizations, government agencies, bilateral and multi-lateral agencies and private sector involved in the improvement of the situation of the youth through youth employment. i) The identification of appropriate relevant institutions and youth development advocates for sponsorship to the Alexandria Summit, India Regional, Mexico Summit and the Kenya Summit, ii) Facilitating series of consultative meetings to galvanize the Kenyan position leading into the summits iii) Sponsored Kenyan youth and Government officers to participate in the YES summits

5 4. Promoting best practice youth self help initiatives within the youth development sector in Kenya for purposes of replication. 5. Bringing the youth employment agenda at the centre of youth development discourse in Kenya iv) Integrating the YES activities as part and parcel of the strategic collabora- tion activities between GTZ PROSYR and the government. v) Providing a consultancy contract for the YES Network country coordinator. vi) Provided a working station with administrative support for the YES Kenya Network coordinator. vii) Supported publicity of the activities of the YES-Kenya by featuring in the media through newspaper supplements. viii) Facilitating the missions from YES- Boston to meet relevant people in Kenya. 6 ACHEVEMENTS The YES-Kenya Strategic plan with the full participation of the youth. Establishment of the local YES-Kenya country and Linking up the Kenya Country Chapter to the Ministry of Labour through the round table to Youth Employment, that eventually accentuated the role and involvement of the Ministry of Labour. Preparation of the YES Roadmap for the hosting of an effective YES Kenya 2006 Conference, Kenya being selected to host the YES Kenya 2006 Conference. Providing an opportunity for YES Kenya Network to request and secure more support from the government.
