3  There are many sub locations for items located at the Circulation desk. Sorting shelves Permanent Reserves ILL Course Reserves Video Reserves (Black Dot Videos) Equipment  Some items have labels that indicate where they belong. View the following pages for three commonly misplaced items. Wow, I’ve got to be careful about where I shelve certain items!

4  Items on permanent reserves should be re-shelved in the Permanent Reserves section.  The section is labeled with a yellow sign that says “Permanent Reserves” (it’s abbreviated on the shelf label).  It starts to the right of the 7 day hold shelf.  Check out times/fines may vary, but all labels will have Permanent Reserves Collection at the top of the label.

5  Items on Faculty Course Reserve should be re-shelved in the Course Reserves section.  The section is located across from the bulletin board.  The section is labeled with a yellow sign that says “Course Reserves”.  Checkout times/fines will vary.

6  ILL books can be picked up from the ILL shelf see (yellow arrow) and should be returned to the ILL bin (see green arrow).  ILL books use two types of labels.  These labels do not readily indicate ILL, but you will find an ILL# and ILL email address on the label which identifies it as an interlibrary loan item. 7 ILL w/out restrictions No renewal or Library use only Renewals allowed, if possible and Can be used outside of the library

8 If you place an item in the wrong location: It may not be checked in properly A patron may think the item is not available Patron may not have access to an item that is crucial to their work at the time Patron may receive unnecessary notices Staff cannot efficiently locate items on the shelves Please familiarize yourself with the different types of locations and labels at the Circulation desk. By doing so, you will be able to: Locate items quickly Shelve items accurately Ensure that patrons needs are met
