2 TRANSPORTATION IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF OUR DAILY LIFE! You can’t go anywhere without it. Requires high level of responsibility. Must remember you are operating a potentially deadly weapon.

3 DRIVING IN SINGAPORE Basic Theory of Driving Handbooks are available at various driving centers around the island. Unless otherwise posted the speed limit is 50 km/h. You must pass the Final Theory of driving test. If you pass the FTT you must take a driving test. If you pass you will be issued a Class 3 Qualified Drivers License.

7 FACTS: -Alcohol was involved in 20 of 73 Navy Driving Deaths – FY 2004 - In the first 63 days of this fiscal year 26 sailors and marines were lost to traffic related accidents at this rate 152 will die this year -- 85% were E-1 to E-5 - 62% under age of 25 - 81% on weekends or holidays - 50% occurred between 2200- 0600 - 27 % were motorcycle related

8 FACTS, CONTINUED: At press time it had not been determined how many of these were alcohol related but past stats indicate that at least 1/3 to possibly ½ had alcohol involvement.

11 DRINKING AND DRIVING IN SINGAPORE Alcohol even in small quantities makes you less safe on the road. Medications can contain alcohol resulting in impairment. The legal limit here is 80mg per 100 ml of blood Any driver found with a BAC exceeding this limit will be spending time in court, possibly jail, and be somewhat poorer as a result

29 TERROR CLUB AND SWIMMING We recently had several injuries at the Terror Club Pool One intoxicated individual injured himself while trying to dive off of the steps into the pool Two children were injured while playing around the edge of the pool

30 Excessive drinking and not vigilant enough about monitoring patrons Parents not monitoring children’s activities plus a lack of vigilance by life guard staff Life guards and club staff need to partner with each other to watch for overly intoxicated patrons Parents need to be vigilant in watching children. REASONS & SOLUTIONS
