5 3. Evaluate your own leadership success Using the 4 indications of good leadership, you can determine for yourself whether or not your area is led well 4. Assimilate more growth as a leader. Forget everything I say because it isn’t going to mean a thing for you. BUT YOU WILL HAVE A FRAMEWORK.

6 Leadership The sum of those qualities of intellect, human understanding, and moral character that enables a person to inspire and to control a group of people successfully.

13 Bearing Courage Decisiveness Creating a favorable impression in carriage, appearance, and personal conduct at all times A mental quality that recognizes fear of danger or criticism but enables a person to proceed with calmness and firmness Ability to reach decisions promptly

14 Dependability Endurance Enthusiasm Certainty of the proper performance of duty Mental and physical stamina measured by the ability to withstand pain, fatigue, distress, and hardship Display of sincere interest and exuberance in the performance of duty

15 Initiative Integrity Judgment Seeing what has to be done and commencing a course of action, even in the absence of orders Uprightness of character and soundness of moral principle, absolute truthfulness and honesty. Quality of weighing facts and possible solutions on which to base sound decisions

16 Justice Knowledge Loyalty Quality of being impartial and consistent in exercising command Acquired information, including professional knowledge and an understanding of your men Faithfulness to Country, Corps, and unit, and to your seniors and subordinates

30  Morale – is the state of mind of the individual. This state of mind is dependent upon his attitudes toward everything that affects him

31  Discipline – is the prompt obedience to orders and in the absence of orders, the initiation of appropriate action

32  Esprit De Corps – is the loyalty to, pride in, and enthusiasm for a unit shown by the members of that unit

33  Proficiency – is the technical, tactical, and physical ability to do a job well
