What is Excel? Excel is an electronic spreadsheet application What is Excel used for? To store/calculate/display data A spreadsheet is made up of columns and rows of data. What is in an Excel file (*.xls)? An Excel file can be referred to as a book of worksheets What is a Worksheet? A worksheet i s a table made up of cells that are referenced by row and column What is a cell? This is where you input/calculate/display your data. There are many tools available to enable you to format your cells. Colour Style Font There are many tools available to enter data and or calculate cell values. Simple equations Standard inbuilt function Programming custom functions MS Excel Introduction (short course) Warilla High School April 2008

Today we will do 2 exercises. 1. Create an Attendance Sheet 2. Create an Assessment and Half yearly report, learn about more advanced functions.
