2 2  J-Peers are a pool of trained volunteers who actively foster their student communities and promote wellbeing.  J-Peers are skilled students who can respond to specific personal needs, from health- related issues (alcohol and drug consumption, healthy eating conducts and physical activities) to more sociocultural aspects (culture shock, homesickness and isolation) Resident MentorsCollege Office Manager Counseling Center  They conduct workshops, trainings and awareness campaigns together with the Resident Mentors, College Office Manager and Counseling Center What is J-Peers?

4 4 The Team non-judgmental listeningempathysupportive behaviors After the completion of the PST, PS has official office hours, where they support students offering non-judgmental listening, empathy and supportive behaviors. They proactively engage the community regarding psychological needs (stress, depression, relationship problems, etc.) PE promotes the sense of community within the college, organizing events, conducting workshops, and coordinating awareness campaigns. Peer Support Training Through the two academic semesters they regularly attend the mandatory Peer Support Training (or PST). Peer Educator Peer Supporter

5 5 Peer Support Training Counseling CenterCampus Life PST is provided by qualified staff members from Counseling Center and Campus Life:  It consists of 10 three-hour sessions on a fortnight basis, equally divided in the two semesters.  Within this training peers learn supportive competences, such as interpersonal skills (non-verbal communication, active listening, empathy, etc.) cultural knowledge (stereotypes construction, diversity management and culture shift) and proactive strategies (crisis awareness, suicide prevention and burnout)

Both undergraduate and graduate students are warmly encouraged to participate Students who are interested in proactively engaging the community and support others Neither prior experience nor specific skills are required! NOTE WELL: this project requires you actively commit for at least TWO semesters! Please keep this is mind before you apply
