22 Life Cycle of a Star Lab Record observations and data on the handout. 1.Inflate a balloon to about 45cm in circumference. 2.Cover the balloon in aluminum foil and measure the circumference of the “star”. 3.Measure the mass of the “star”. 4.Pop the balloon and gently crush the foil (NOT ALL THE WAY) to represent a supernova. 5.Measure the new circumference and mass. 6.Crush the foil a second time, measure the mass and volume. 7.Crush the foil a final time to represent a black hole.
