Art 222 :: Digital Multimedia :: Week 6 :: B In-class Presentation :: Assignment – Part 1 Personal Film Treatment due at our next class Write up a brief “treatment” of your idea and post it onto your class web page. What is a treatment? Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_treatmenthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_treatment My answer: it depends on the project and the filmmaker. In our case our treatments must describe the story, or concept, of our time-based project. It can be purely text written in a story/paragraph format, it can be a series of sketches or storyboards, it can be a visual map with accompanying text or legend, or any combination of the above or other method that communicates the full story/concept of the project. What is the purpose? To write-out your idea before you begin production. To define the scope of your project (how much time it will take to produce, duration of final product, etc.) To establish a conceptual framework and a game plan that you can stick to over the next couple of weeks. due :: 02.21.07

Art 222 :: Digital Multimedia :: Week 6 :: B In-class Presentation :: Assignment – Part 2 Watch the video tutorials on text animation techniques using After Effects and post a 5 second test text animation. Experiment with different text animation techniques on your own. Have fun and be sure to try several different techniques. Export out a small (5 seconds or less) Windows Media Video file (.wmv) of one of your text animation tests. Post the.wmv file on your class web page. In the render queue, under “Output Module”, be sure to change the size to 360 x 240. In the render queue, under “Output Module”, be sure to choose “Windows Media” under FORMAT and “WM9 NTSC download 256kbps” )the defaault) under FORMAT OPTIONS. Your rendered file should be a.wmv file under 500K. Mine is 176K (very small and easy to post online). due :: 02.21.07
