Because it’s open and social ;)  The web is better when it’s social - http://www.opensocial.org/http://www.opensocial.org/ OPEN  Nature Publishing Group is a champion of online sharing Connotea APIs (social bookmarking site) available since late 2004 Open Search APIs launched in 2009 allow remote searching of nature.com  Developers should be able to submit their apps to multiple platforms SOCIAL  Nature Network promotes social connections We want to be open. And social. =

9 Marta Rolak, Nature Publishing Group, 7 th December 2010 Widget wish list  Widgets can facilitate research in many ways: They can be purely scientific, i.e. DNA sequence manipulation tools, or they can help make everyday life easier, i.e. time zone converters. 1 2 3 Time converter to correctly set up conference calls with colleagues in distant labs Apps that facilitate sharing documents, i.e. SlideShare, Google Docs To do list – to remind scientists to make brilliant discoveries RSS readers 4
