STRATEGIC DOCUMENTS IN INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING Two basic strategic documents, were elaborated in the Ministry of Transport: National Strategy for Development of the Transport Infrastructure of the Republic of Bulgaria until 2015 and Action Alan Approved by the Council of Ministries in 2006 Budget of the Strategy - € 4 712 million Operational Programme “Transport” Officially signed on 27 November 2007 in Brussels Budget of the Programme - € 2 003 million

BENEFICIARIES FOR OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME ON TRANSPORT 2007 – 2013 The strategic framework of the Operational Programme on Transport 2007 - 2013 identifies, under each operation planned, the identity of the relevant beneficiary body. The beneficiaries for the Programme are: National Railway Infrastructure Company National Road Infrastructure Fund Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of Danube River Executive Agency Maritime Administration Metropolitan JSC

FORTHCOMING PROJECTS Tender procedures for the following projects will start until the end of 2008 : Extension of the Metropolitan Sofia section: Nadejda Junction – Central Railway Station – Sveta Nedelia Square – Tcherni Vruh blvd. Reconstruction and Electrification of Svilengrad – Turkish Border Railway Line Kardjali – Podkova Road Connection of the Hemus Motorway to the Sofia Ring Road Construction of Maritza Motorway – from km 5 to km 72 Construction of Intermodal Terminal in Sofia

PUBLIC – PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP Currently the Concession, as a public – private partnership form, is a major instrument for reconstruction, modernization and construction of the objects, which are part of the national transport infrastructure network. The Ministry of Transport applies the concession mainly for: Modernization of the Airports for Public Use, and Modernization of the Ports for Public Use The Ministry of Transport also intends to apply PPP forms for future development and modernization of railway stations and other railway infrastructure objects.
