2 Activities Highlights 2014 GAO Engagement New release date for GAO Report is March 16, 2015 Congressional hearings may follow the release of the report Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO) Released their “Report Card on the U.S. National Spatial Data Infrastructure” – 2/6/15 Qualitative assessment on the NSDI framework layers and their fitness for use now and in the future Call attention to, and begin discussions on, how to improve the NSDI to ensure it meets national data needs now and in the future 2

3 Activities Highlights NGDA Management Plan Action 1B.2: FGDC NGDA team working with Theme Leads and Dataset Managers to register NGDA Datasets in GeoPlatform.gov/Data.gov catalog  Due March 31, 2015 Action 2A.1: Baseline Dataset Assessment Survey  Due June 30, 2015  Initializing implementation, automated tool in development  Linkages to Theme level baseline assessment, annual reporting, and evolving Platform architecture 3

8 Activities Highlights (Cont’d) Standards Activities The FGDC Standards WG met Monday, March 2. The SWG recommended CG approval of the National Shoreline Data Content Standard for FGDC endorsement - a ballot package for CG approval is pending. National Shoreline Data Content Standard Provides a framework for data development, sharing, transformation and fusion. Provides technical guidance on semantics, data structures and their relationships. Defines common attributes or elements and provides suggested domains. Defines data models, schemas, entities, relationships, definitions, and crosswalks to related standards. Applies to shorelines of navigable waters within the U.S. and its territories. Legal controversy surrounds shoreline definitions because of boundary implications. The standard provides a framework inclusive of multiple shoreline interpretations. Applies to Water – Inland and Water - Oceans and Coasts NGDA Themes 8

9 Activities Highlights (Cont’d) CG ballot to approve the following standards for FGDC endorsement closes April 6: Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) 5.1 GeoRSS-Simple and GeoRSS-GML ISO/IEC 15444-1:2004 Technical Corrigendum 1:2007 and ISO/IEC 15444-1:2004 Technical Corrigendum 2 JPEG 2000 OGC GeoPackage 1.0 Geopolitical Entities, Names, and Codes (GENC) Standard Edition 2 (with concurrent withdrawal of GENC standard Edition 1) 9

13 President’s 2016 Budget Community Resiliency Toolkit +$11,000,000 ($11 million) The Community Resilience Toolkit (Toolkit) will improve community resilience by providing tools that help Federal, State, local and tribal governments understand, respond to, and adapt their planning to maximize economic sustainability to natural hazards and other events. Will enhance the Geospatial Platform with the addition of new data, tools, and services; supporting an increased user-base; funding cooperative agreements with State, local, and Tribal governments to integrate their data and services into the Geospatial Platform. 13
