28 WHY: LINKING? I am talking on the phone to a foreign person. Do I care about my grammar? No, I am concerned that they understand me. So I purposely use “ broken English or Franglophone ” Same situation but now I ’ m speaking with London. Do I care about grammar? Are you crazy, must you really ask? OF COURSE I AM! It ’ s the queen ’ s language. As a global manager you ’ ve got to be concerned with developing relationships: Linking

29 Communication is not what you say, but, what is heard: What does this mean? To be heard I have to communicate in a way that the other person can understand, using their references This means that I need to use language that is tailored to them To their way of seeing things; their culture and style
