5  We first must address the basic needs of 100% of the world population  We must assure mass involvement in creative development and applications of science and technology  Local production is key  Household empowerment ◦ Solar powered houses ◦ Rain water collection ◦ Household waste processing ◦ Home based gardens

6  Empowering a population technologically promotes democracy  Population will be better informed therefore more capable of making decisions that will benefit them

7  Africa has more natural resources than any other continent, yet has the world’s poorest population  Africa’s resources currently benefit the wealthy in the richest countries  Technology empowerment can shift this situation where Africa’s resources will benefit the poor and disadvantaged.
