2 Location Location Hawaii, U.S Northern Hemisphere Hot Spot Kilauea is located in Hawaii, which is part of U.S. It is also located in the northern Hemisphere. It was formed by a hot spot in the Pacific Ocean. This is a map of the area of Kilauea. The volcano is bordered in by the red square box.

3 Type of Volcano Shield Volcano Basaltic Magma Violent Eruptions
3 mile wide lava channel This is a shield forming volcano. Kilauea has Basaltic magma. It also has slow violent eruptions. The picture at the top is a picture of a three mile wide lava channel.

4 History History Active
November, It has erupted many times 61 Eruptions in all Active November in 1959 was this volcanoes most violent eruption. At 8 o’ clock there was a 400 meter lava fountain with 15 meters of lava coming out, in a hour and a half it doubled. Lava rapids were described as "a bright orange, glowing, twisting ribbon that made a slurred gurgling sound as it glided past. The picture at the top is a picture that was actually taken during that time. In all there has been 61 eruptions, this is not counting all of the activity from the lava-laketoday.

Scientist have studied this volcano for its magma and its activity. Some geothermal activity would be the crater and glowing pit. This is a crater of Halemaumau formed at Kilauea's Summit.

One of largest active craters on earth Youngest volcano in Hawaii Home of Fire Goddess, Pele. Interesting Facts would be that Kilauea is one of largest active craters on earth, Youngest volcano in Hawaii, and Home of Fire Goddess, Pele.
