3 Background John F. Kennedy was born in Brookline, MA. Into a rich and popular, Irish Catholics. He had eight siblings. He went to a private school. He volunteered for hazardous combat duty during the pacific and World War II. He also was a journalist.

5 Presidential Election John F. Kennedy was the youngest president at the age of 43. But his older brother Joseph was going to be the one that got the Kennedys into the white house. But he died at war. So john made the decision to go into politics in 1946. He announced his candidacy as a democrat for the house of representatives. January 1960 he officially announced his candidacy for president. He won by 119,450 votes out of 69,000,000 cast.

6 November 22, 1963 Dallas, TX John was on his way to make a luncheon speech in Dallas, TX. He was going down the street in an open convertible. As the motorcade came up to an underpass the assassin fired several shots, hitting him in the neck and head. He was pronounced dead at Parkland Memorial Hospital. The bullets were shot out of a nearby where house. The shooter was 24 year old lee Harvey Oswald. On 11-24-1963 in a Dallas police basement Lee Harvey was shot by Jack Ruby a Dallas nightclub owner, Millions watched his death on television.

7 Affects on the U.S. Today For many people, his presidency came to represent the rise of youthful idealism in the aftermath of World War II. The promise of this energetic and telegenic leader was not to be fulfilled. His shocking death was at the height of a period of political and social instability in the county and world. He promised much but never had the chance to follow through, it was and unfinished life.
