2 CHEYUTHA A Community Initiative for & by PLHAs supported by LEPRA Society Network of people positive GOAL: To improve quality of life of PLHA and protect their rights to health.

3 LEPRA Society is a health and development organization working to restore health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and other allied diseases and conditions caused by them. Mission Statement

5 ‘Cheyutha’ means a supporting hand, NPP+ chose the name to their new initiative.  Network of people positive (NPP+) is a CBO, registered under AP State Society Act 2001.  The Organization is covering the twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad, Nalgonda District of A.P.  Cheyutha has about 429 people living with HIV/AIDS as its members. ( every month the number is increasing)

6 Project Launch on 8 th February,2005 CHEYUTHA being launched: Inaugural speech given by Dr. Balwant Singh, Country Director, India HIV Alliance. Dignitaries from various AIDS organisations and leaders of NPP+ are seen on the dais.

8 OBJECTIVES: To offer quality treatment for opportunistic infections build the capacity and skills of the staff strengthen the network of the PLHA create an enabling environment in the society establish linkages with health systems / services providers promote and protect the rights of the infected & affected provide community and family based care and support to the PLHAs Improve treatment awareness among PLHAs

Weekly Clinic at CHEYUTHA Clinic Every Saturday (except first Saturday), clinics are organised at Cheyutha office, and economically poor patients are supported with free drugs. Field staff of Cheyutha visits the field, where in they visit the PPTCTC, VCCTC, Government Hospitals, Pvt. Hospitals, RMP Doctors, and other service providers give information about Cheyutha services to PLHA, Doctors and service providers. 13 Assistance at ARV Centre Osmania Hospital One field worker is placed at the Govt. ARV, to facilitate Patients for the services 23 members of the network are on ARV treatment 149 PLHA have been assisted to start on ARV treatment 99 have been assisted in CD4 count test at ARV centre
