1 How to Create an iGoogle Page

2 Step 1: Create an Account Go to http://www.google.com/ighttp://www.google.com/ig Click on “sign in” Click on “create an account now” Fill in the requisite information to create an account You will receive an email from Google asking you to verify your address and activate your account. Follow the link and directions.

3 Step 2: Set initial preferences Select your interests, your theme, and location Click “See your page” Review the default items –Weather –Date & Time –YouTube

4 Step 3: Customizing Your Page You can choose to edit the settings using the drop down menus in each gadget. By placing your cursor in the title line, you will be given the option to move the gadget to another place on the page.

5 Step 4: Adding Stuff To begin adding personalized gadgets and RSS feeds to your iGoogle webpage, click on “add stuff” on the right hand side.

6 Step 4: Adding Stuff After clicking on “add stuff” you will be given a list of different gadgets you can choose from. Click “add it now” to add one to your home page After you click “add it now”, you will see the new application added to your homepage Now you can move and edit this gadget (see Step 3)

7 Step 5: Adding RSS Feed Adding RSS Feeds to your iGoogle homepage can help you stay current on news and announcements occurring on outside websites such as The Wall Steet Journal Law Blog. Begin by locating a website you would like to add to your iGoogle. (Example: http://blogs.wsj.com/law/)

8 Step 5: Adding RSS Feed Next, locate the RSS Feed icon on the selected website. Clicking on the icon will take you to the website’s RSS Feed. Highlight and copy the link.

9 Step 5: Adding RSS Feed After copying the RSS Feed link, return to your iGoogle page under “add stuff”. Click on “add feed or gadget” on the left hand side. Paste in the link from your selected website and click “add”. The added feed will now appear on your iGoogle homepage.

10 Making iGoogle Work for You iGoogle provides many different applications and gadgets that can be used to help customize your career interests. Here are a few suggested items that can help maximize your career goals and objectives: »Google Alerts »Google Chat »Google Calendar

11 Making iGoogle Work for You Google Alerts Google Alerts can help you keep up-to-date on specific topics of interest by sending you news and current events either on iGoogle or via email. Go to http://www.google.com/alerts to set up and manage your alerts.http://www.google.com/alerts

12 Making iGoogle Work for You Google Chat Stay connected to fellow classmates, alumni, and other network contacts with the chat function! This application allows to create and monitor social connections from your iGoogle homepage. Chat is located on the left hand side of your homepage. Click “add friends” to begin a conversation.

13 Making iGoogle Work for You Google Calendar The calendar application is a great tool to help you organize meetings, interviews, deadlines, and application dates. Share calendars with co- workers, friends, and family and get reminders for events and deadlines! Find Google Calendar under “add stuff” in iGoogle. Add the gadget to your homepage and then hit “edit” to begin personalizing your calendar.
