1 AbbreviationLego /Found imageDescriptionSuggestion BCU Big Close Up A big close-up is a shot whereby the camera will focus upon one particular aspect of the face, for example they may focus on the expression of a certain feature like the eyes. The expression used in this image portrays quite a happy, open character that appears to be responding to another character or something that is happening in the setting around her. CU Close Up A regular close up will focus mostly on the main expression of the face, it may not focus upon a certain feature of the face. You can also see a small part of the background so you can tell the setting. This image is used to represent the characters expression. This particular character is looking rather smug, could suggest he is a stereotypical “lad” who gets the lady characters in a movie. MCU Medium Close Up A medium close up will include the shoulders and possibly a prop to tell you something about the character. You will be able to determine their expression and setting in a more broadened sense. This shot has brought in a few props. The character appears to be holding a weapon and seems to be injured with obvious bandages on his face. This could mean he is either the hero, or the villain involved in the action shot. DISTANCE

With short messy hair, a bandeau, a sports top and she is holding a basketball. Stereotypically speaking, Basketball is an American sport which suggests she is an American tom boy with the choice of dressing. MLS Mid-Long Shot With a medium long shot, usually part of the legs are revealed, again you can tell the setting and the characters appearance is a bit more revealed. With this shot, you can see that the character is quite open with her arms by her side. Being in an open field supports that idea. LS or WS Long Shot The full body of the character is on show, the character will usually blend in with the setting, it would seem that you are supposed to focus on everything with lots of different things going on. With this image, the idea of a long shot could be used to portray the beauty and elegance of the character. You would associate her costume with a wedding suggesting she is part of the main scene.
