1 Two Types of Cells Prokaryotic Cell vs. Eukaryotic Cells

2 Prokaryotic Cells Bacteria and archaea are prokaryotic cells. They are the smallest forms of life that can live independently. Do not have a nucleus. Genetic material (DNA) is bunched up in the cytoplasm. Do not have membrane-covered organelles. Have ribosomes which make proteins.

3 Eukaryotic Cells Animals, plants, fungi, and protists are made up of eukaryotic cells. More complex than prokaryotic cells. Have a nucleus. The nucleus contains the genetic material (DNA). Have membrane-covered organelles.
