5 Intel ISEF 2012 – Educator Academy 5 High Level Goals Long term goals (3-5 years) –Increase participation of science inquiry in post primary schools thro participation in science fairs by 20% (450 to 540) –Insure the sustainability of current model of science fairs in post primary schools –Increase the number of students participating in science fairs by 20% within 3 years (5K to 6K) –Strengthen the Dept of Education’s links to Science Fairs Short term goals (1-2 years) –Develop a continuity and sustainability plan for existing fairs –Build greater coherence and alignment between the existing fairs for greater impact –Broaden students access to entry to science fairs –Link science inquiry with curriculum and assessment process

Please list the results you want to see Student participation increased by 20% over 3 years School participation increased by 20% over a three- year period School science fairs take place in 30 schools in 3 years (12 to 30- 150% growth) A continuity and sustainability plan in place for each of the existing fairs (18-24 months) XX % increase in the number of students opting to use participation in science fairs for course work B purposes at Junior Cycle (baseline and target to be confirmed) Dept of Education and Skills Inspectorate promote participation in science fairs through school and subject level evaluations
