CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 22 Staff policy Mandate: “Define the operating scenario of the CCC and make recommendations about the management and possible harmonization of the various categories of personnel corresponding to the different CCC usages” WG recommendation: 1 single group as soon as possible –merging TCR + MCR teams in 2005 Method: establish scenario for 2010+ (“LHC steady state”) then study transition

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 23 Staff policy: LHC steady state (2010+) 10 shift workers: –6 senior operators: LHC, SPS, PS, PSB, TI, Cryo –3 junior operators SPS, PS, TI/Cryo –1 LHC EiC Shift coordinator among senior operators –Experience of running accelerators –Good understanding of TI & Cryo –CP D

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 24 Staff policy: PS/SPS shutdown (2005)

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 25 Staff policy: LHC Hardware commissioning (2006-2007)

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 26 Staff policy: LHC start-up (2007-2008)

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 27 Staff policy: LHC steady state (2010+)

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 28 The (very tight) Planning: 59 weeks to go 31/12/2004: CE Studies completed, call for tenders out, preparatory works completed; start of civil engineering 1/11/2005: building ready; installation begins, followed by commissioning 1/2/2006: CCC commissioned, ready for OP

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 30 Status of the work Concrete slab poured PCR empty Servers in BA3 IT for consoles going out … so far so good!

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 31 Remaining issues Operators chairs Access systems Control system: when to converge? Communications Fast analog signals Parking / Office space

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 32 Conclusions The CCC project is now well on its way Tight schedule but respected so far

CCC status report 14/12/2004D.Manglunki AB/OP 33 CCC-WG mandate 1)In close collaboration with all CCC users and associated technical groups, define the design and layout of the CCC for all CCC activities namely the operation of all CERN accelerators, including machine development work, LHC hardware and beam commissioning, operation of the LHC cryogenics and CERN Technical Support activities. 2)Following the user requests, define common standards and specify all associated equipment for the CCC, such as user consoles, general displays, meeting facilities, office space, operator rest areas, etc. 3)Define the most appropriate implementation schedule (possibly in stages), budget profile and milestones for the CCC. This includes planning where and how all the present and future CCC activities will be performed between now and the commissioning of the CCC, as well as planning the commissioning of the CCC itself. 4)Organize and follow-up the implementation of the chosen engineering design. This includes ordering, procuring, installing and commissioning of all the CCC equipment. 5)Define the operating scenario of the CCC and make recommendations about the management and possible harmonization of the various categories of personnel corresponding to the different CCC usages. 6)The working group will report to the ATC and inform the relevant bodies concerning the LHC beam and hardware commissioning, the LHC cryogenics and the TCR operation. The members of the working group are: –One representative of the Accelerator operation (chairman) : D.Manglunki, AB/OP –One representative of the LHC beam commissioning and operation: R.Bailey, AB/OP –One representative of the LHC hardware commissioning: R.Saban, EST/IC –One representative of the cryogenics operation (accelerators and experiments): L.Serio, AT/ACR –One representative of the Technical Support (TCR): M.Bätz, ST/MA –One representative of the Controls: B.Frammery, AB/CO
