6 How To Get Legal Experience  Explore law-related work w/your current employer  Consider moving to a full-time job at a law firm  Explore a summer sabbatical/leave of absence  Use vacation time to attend conferences/CLEs  Extern for a judge this summer or next year  Be a research assistant to a professor  Join a law journal or participate in moot court  Consider limited projects for solo practitioners/small firms – find through networking  Write articles on legal topics – work with practitioners  Volunteer on weekends/breaks or on projects you can do online (Illinois Legal Aid Online)
