3 Every citizen who stops smoking, or loses a few pounds, or starts managing his chronic disease with real diligence, is caulking a crack for the benefit of us all.

4 SMOKING Smoking is a practice in which a substance, most commonly tobacco is burned and the smoke is tasted or inhaled. This is primarily practised as a route of administration for recreational drug use, as combustion releases the active substances in drugs.

5 CONTINUED……… The most common method of smoking today is through cigarettes, primarily industrially manufactured but also hand-rolled from loose tobacco and rolling paper.

6 DO MEN & WOMEN REALLY SMOKE?

7 Asthma doesn't seem to bother me any more unless I'm around cigars or dogs. The thing that would bother me most would be a dog smoking a cigar.

8 DO MEN & WOMEN REALLY SMOKE? According to polls by the American heart association, about 23.5% of men in the USsmoke cigarettes and 18.1% of women in the US smoke. All together that is about 20% of the general population so if you look around it is estimated about 1 in 5 people smoke.

9 DISADVANTAGES OF SMOKING

10 As an example to others, and not that I care for moderation myself, it has always been my rule never to smoke when asleep, and never to refrain from smoking when awake.

11 DISADVANTAGES OF SMOKING Disadvantages of smoking: Decreased lung capacity Increased risk of many health conditions just to name a few big ones: Heart disease Coronary Artery Diseases Lung Cancer Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

12 CONTINUED……… Emphysema Spending money Trouble breathing, shortness of breath Decreased immune system response Decreased oxygen to tissues throughout the body

13 TOBACCO SMOKING

15 TOBACCO SMOKING Tobacco smoking has been fingered as a major cause of mortality and morbidity, responsible for an estimated 434,000 deaths per year in the United States.
