3 By the end of this refresher training you will be able to: Organize and teach GI-BMP classes in 2015 Describe the 2014 program updates Refresher Training

4 4 Maintaining Instructor Certification * Follow the prescribed content Follow the length of time allotted for each module Keep current with all GI-BMP materials Use only the most current versions of all materials Complete refreshers and follow updates Teach at least one module per year

5 5 New Class Evaluation 2015  Please use ONLY the new survey for 2015 classes o The survey is available for download from the Instructor Resources site o http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/gibmp_instructor.htmlhttp://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/gibmp_instructor.html  For best results: o Go over the evaluation instructions o Answer any questions o Administer the evaluation before the post-test o Collect along with the post-test

7 7 Updates in 2014 The Pesticide Module (module 6) has been revised o New content regarding the “SDS” o Globally Harmonized System for hazardous communication o Signal words (slides 28-31) Training materials and forms for in-person training in Haitian Creole are available for download o DVD release in Haitian Creole is pending The handout pdf file has been reformatted for better black- and-white printing.

10 New Training Provider Login Three steps to Training Provider access: 1) Get a UF ID number: – http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/instructor-gl.htm http://ffl.ifas.ufl.edu/instructor-gl.htm – May take several days 2) Create a “GatorLink” username (UF computer login) 3) Notify state office to authorize your account Assistants should request accounts in their own name. 10

18 18 Continuing Education Units The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) is currently updating their website and CEU process. In the interim, the State Office will mail a copy of the CEU form with your training materials if you are already registered as a Training Provider. 20 20 Scanable Test Forms Request tests in advance [estimate number] Allow extra time for instructions and bubbling Instructions in Module 1: Introduction Return unused tests Name and DOB on the test must match the training record

21 21 Review before the Test Recommended Based on the key learning points [Instructor Manual, Section 4] A word by word review is NOT approved

22 22 Send completed class materials to the GI-BMP Data Manager o Class Transmittal Form (Instructor Resources) o Class registration and attendance list(s) o A complete, legible, signed training record form for each attendee o Completed pre- and post-tests o Completed class evaluations Alphabetical order Keep copies of training records and post tests as a back up Send no later than 7 calendar days after the class Certificates mailed within 2 weeks of class date Questions? 30 Illiteracy 30 Some may not be able to pass the GI-BMP exam and obtain the fertilizer certificate Non-applicator employees should still be trained in all modules that apply to their duties The GI-BMP training is open to anyone who is interested in learning about the Green Industries best management practices. Passing the test is only required of those seeking certification.

31 Illiteracy and ADA 31 Illiteracy that is the result of a physical or mental disability (e.g., stoke, head trauma, birth defects, mental disability, etc.) that substantially limits a major life activity may warrant reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Otherwise, illiteracy is not a disability covered by the ADA. Contact Regional and/or State coordination for more information and support with unique situations requiring special needs.

33 Error in Spanish Manual Page 30, drop spreader should not be used when applying sulfur coated fertilizer.
