1.  Creating your personal website and online portfolio

2.  Rather than keeping a hard copy portfolio to store and track your work, you will create an online webpage.  Each of you will be responsible for creating and updating your own web page.  Many students currently use this type of portfolio as a tool for college applications. This can be very helpful for you throughout your academic life.

3.  Go to web address google.ltisdschools.org o Sign in when prompted. Each student has been assigned a google account. lastname.firstname@ltisdschools.net

4.  Once you have logged in, you should see the following screen.  Click on Google Sites

5.  Click on Create

6.  Click on “Browse” for more.  Then click on Schools & Education

7.  Scroll down to select “Student Website”

8.  Once you select the template, it will take you back to the main page where your template option is now available.  Choose the template, then continue down the screen entering all of the necessary information. o ***Note*** Name your site something appropriate and something you can remember. I will be logging on to your site to grade projects and papers to your page.

9.  Your site will have your page name, but will contain information that is not yours. To change the info, click the pencil I the upper right-hand corner.  Please add your information to the page to make it yours. It doesn’t have to be as extensive as the example, but follow the example as a guide. Do this for all of the links on the left of your page. Edit Page Links

10.  Under the “Gallery” link, please click on the pencil to edit and erase the pictures posted there as an example.  You will be creating and making a video to post here.  Creating video’s will be useful for future projects, so this will serve as practice for you. It will also showcase your knowledge of technology.

11.  Log on to animoto.com o Create an account by clicking Sign up in the upper right hand corner. o Use your student email (lastname.firstname@laketravis.net) to create your account.

12.  Click on create to make your first video. o This video must be posted to your website, so make sure it is appropriate. Unless you have cloud storage or dropbox to access personal videos and pics, your first video will consist of pictures you copy and paste from the web. o Take the tour to learn how to use Animoto. It will auto prompt you to the tour, is very helpful. Please view it in its entirety.

13.  When finished with your video, click on “preview” on the left side of the screen.  Then click “generate”. Once you generate, you have sharing options; choose to embed the video.  You need to copy the embed code just as you would use the copy and paste feature in Microsoft word.

14.  Paste the embed code to the home page of your website.  ***NOTE: To embed, click on the pencil in the upper right hand corner of the home page (the pencil means edit) click on HTML, then paste the embed code to the page and click on save.

15.  When you have completed your website, log onto schoology and copy and paste your webpage link as the assignment in the Google Sites assignment.  Great job!
