They are for measuring the progress of The Strategy against its 5 operational objectives and 21 outcomes (decision 3/COP.8). How many performance indicators do developed country Parties report on? Ten (10) indicators. Which is the baseline year? The first implementation year of The Strategy: 2008. Reporting in 2010 is due for 2008 and 2009.

Developed country Parties being both ‘affected’ and ‘developed’ report as ‘developed’ only on 6 indicators. In fact, they will be reporting on CONS-O-1, CONS- O-3, CONS-O-4 and CONS-O-11 as ‘affected’ only.

Why under OO1 the focus is on Civil Society Organizations and Science and Technology Institutions? The focus on these stakeholders is a requirement of outcome 1.3. This requirement applies to CONS-O-1, CONS-O-3 and CONS-O-4.

By means of CONS-O-1. Are DLDD issues/synergies communicated? It is assessed through the measurement of the ‘volume’ of in-country communication activities (n° of events) and their reach (participants to these events) ‏

Information events organized by third parties not reporting to the UNCCD shall be reported on by the CCD NFP.

Is communication effective? It is assessed through the appraisal of the persons reached in-country by media products (estimate of audience). It is assumed that the stronger the role of the media, the higher the probability of passing the messages on to the target audience (effectiveness).

13 Training of Trainers Workshop 31 May – 4 June 2010, FAO Rome The UNCCD > The 10-year Strategy (2008 – 2018) > The 21 Outcomes and the 5 Operational Objectives of The Strategy > The performance indicators for the 5 operational objectives > additional instructions for CONS-O-1 Table: Estimated number of persons reached by media products and key stakeholders Media products (see definition in the glossary) have been grouped into: (a) Paper media products (articles, press releases, leaflets, flyers, brochures and comics, etc.); (b) radio and television programmes; (c) other ICT (websites, CDs, DVD,...see definition in the glossary). Contact the producers to get an estimate of the persons reached by the corresponding media product. Add this information by year and by stakeholder group. Media produced by third parties not reporting to the UNCCD shall be reported on by the CCD NFP.

By means of CONS-O-3. Are programmes/projects valid tools for CSOs/STIs engagement at the field level? It is assessed through the quantification of the in-country participation of CSOs and STIs in DLDD-related programmes and projects.

In these PPSs you have specified the number of CSOs and the number of STIs involved in each programme/project (see section 4 of the PPS). Add these numbers and give the total by year.

By means of CONS-O-4. Are CSOs/STis sufficiently committed to combat DLDD through their education initiatives? It is assessed through the quantification of in-country education-related initiatives undertaken in the formal and non-formal sectors by target stakeholders.

For each CSOs/STIs specify whether they undertake initiatives in the formal and/or non-formal education sector (yes/no). Add the ‘yes’ and give the total by year.

Mainstreaming of UNCCD objectives and SLM interventions into developed country Parties’ cooperation programmes/projects is assessed through the quantification of partnership agreements concluded with affected country Parties, whether or not these agreements relate to integrated investment frameworks.

By means of CONS-O-8. Through the quantification of monitoring systems whose establishment in affected country Parties has been financially and/or technically supported by the reporting country.

By means of CONS-O-11. Do DLDD-relevant knowledge sharing systems exist at country level? Reporting countries are invited to list any system they are aware of, providing name and Internet link. Are these systems effective in sharing knowledge with the end- users? It is assessed through the quantification of the systems’ users’ base (estimated number of users per year)

Through the quantification of investment frameworks allowing the leverage of national, bilateral and multilateral resources for combating DLDD and whose establishment has been supported by the reporting country.

By means of CONS-O-15. Financial support is assessed through the quantification of the amounts committed and disbursed to affected country Parties for DLDD-related programmes and projects by the reporting country.

Sum all the financial commitments made in the reporting biennium by your country. By checking the accounts of the corresponding programmes and projects provide an estimate of the amounts actually disbursed in the reporting biennium.
