3 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida What are Industry Collaboration Events?  Industry Collaboration Events (ICE) are interoperability testing programs developed by NENA so NG9-1-1 vendors can test their equipment with each other in an open and collaborative environment Industry Collaboration Events  Every vendor agrees to keep the testing results private  It is not a certification program

4 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida NG9-1-1 ICE Steering Committee  Responsible for planning and executing the events  Sets the direction and expectations for an event  What will be tested and how  What information from the event will be released  Scheduling the event  Select Chair and Vice-chair for Planning Committee  Composed from representatives from major stakeholder groups  Forms committees to plan individual ICE events

5 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE Data Gathering and Reporting Committee  Provides an event’s final report:  Lists tests as completed or incomplete  Cannot be used for marketing or advertising  Answers the following questions regarding standards:  Which standards are clear and complete?  Which standards are too loose?  Which standards are too restrictive?  Which standards are missing?  Gathers feedback from participants

7 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 1: Test Location, Routing and Delivery of NG9-1-1 Calls  Held at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX from Nov 2 to 5 2009  20 NG9-1-1 components tested by 26 engineers from 16 companies  Plan was to test the end to end delivery of NG9-1-1 calls with location  81 bilateral tests (67% completed)  9 end-to-end tests (22% completed)  21 detailed comments provided to NENA Technical leadership for review  100% of participants found event useful and would participate again

8 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 2: Test NG9-1-1 Transitional Elements  Held at the AT&T Center for Learning in Irving, TX, May 25 to May 27 2010  19 companies participated  Plan was to test transitional elements such as LNG, LPG and RFAI  64 bilateral tests (86% completed)  54 complex scenarios (11% completed)

9 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 3: Location Information  Held in Bryan, TX Nov 29 to Dec 3 2010  7 companies participated  6 recording companies also participated  Plan was to test more complex location data, especially GIS shapes  76 bilateral tests (100% completed)  382 complex tests (67% completed)

10 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 4: Call Routing Based on LoST Hierarchy  Held at the AT&T Center for Learning in Irving, TX week of Nov 14 2011  22 companies participated  Plan was to test NG9-1-1 call routing based on LoST hierarchy  152 bilateral tests (100% completed)  163 complex tests (66% completed)  Most complex ICE event yet

11 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 5: Accessibility to Emergency Services  Held at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Wheaton IL, the week of October 15, 2012  20 organizations participated including member from the hearing impaired community  Event focused on emergency services and solutions that directly support access to NG9-1-1 for people with disabilities (e.g., deaf, hard-of-hearing, speech-impaired, etc.).  Included audio, text and video tests

12 NENA Development Conference | October 2014 | Orlando, Florida ICE 8: Interoperability with Recording & Logging Components  Held at IIT in Wheaton IL the week of November 4, 2013  20 vendors participated  Focused on testing interfaces for logging of processing events and recording NG9-1-1 multimedia and call data, as well as interfaces for retrieving and reproducing both.  Allowed vendors of all NG9-1-1 call processing elements to test logging, recording and retrieval interfaces while processing calls from origination to termination with different media types.
