2 Strengths  Process: - A focused forum on cooperation and exchange of information about scientific data on bilateral basis. - Builds greater understanding of various data policy and management issues and approaches by both sides. - Provides a mechanism for government and academic experts to meet to discuss topics of mutual interest and to initiate potential cooperative and data exchange activities.  Products: - Many thanks to Dr. Seto and NIBIB/NIH for U.S. support. - A growing body of focused information about data activities, issues, and interests. - Some cooperation successes: (eSDDC CoI formed, potential cooperation in biomedical standards and seismic data exchange). - Bilateral study on improving scientific data sharing.

3 Weaknesses  Process - Capabilities and resources of Roundtable do not match the expectations of participants. - Different participants at each meeting make it difficult to build and sustain cooperation projects. - Too much time spent on presentations and not enough time discussing implementation. - Difficulty for follow-up without sustained commitment by the participants.  Products - Few cooperative projects or results in 1 st three years, with a lot of dead ends resulted in considerable frustration.
