1 Basic Information For Those Attending the WMOF Congress (Sept 22-25) WMOF Congress Speakers and Agenda The schedule of keynote addresses and breakout sessions can be found on the WMOF website or the WMOF Congress App available through the App Store or Google Play. If you have registered for the WMOF Congress as a whole, it is not necessary to register for specific breakout sessions. Breakout session room locations will be available in the Welcome Kit that you receive upon check-in at the Congress. The Opening Ceremony is Tuesday, Sept 22 at 1pm at the PA Convention Center.WMOF website WMOF Congress Check-in If you have registered for the WMOF Congress (Sept 22-25), check-in for the event begins on Monday, Sept 21 at 9am. Please consult the updated Congress Agenda on the WMOF website to view the check-in times throughout the week. Congress Attendees should enter the PA Convention Center at the Broad Street Atrium entrance to check-in. If you registered as a group, each individual still checks in by their own last name.updated Congress Agenda WMOF Congress Attendees Welcome Kit Those who have registered for the full WMOF Congress will receive, at the time of check-in, a name badge and the Welcome Kit. At the time of check-in, they will also receive - if they ordered them - the SEPTA Anywhere Trail Pass (valid through Sept 28 on all SEPTA transit) and lunch tickets. Full Congress registrants also will have access to tickets to the Reserved Standing Area of the Festival of Families and Sunday's Papal Mass. Announcements about when and where Congress registrants can pick up their papal events tickets will be made during the Congress itself. One-Day Only Congress Passes Beginning Monday, Sept 21 at 9am it will be possible to register on-site at the Convention Center for One Day Only passes to the Congress. One Day Only passes are subject to availability, up to 2,500 registrations. Please note that One Day Only Congress attendees will not receive the Welcome Kit or tickets to papal events. Please see the WMOF website’s updated Congress Agenda to view the times for on-site registration.updated Congress Agenda Transportation in Center City During the WMOF Congress (Sept 22-25) During the week of the Congress, travel will be “business as usual” until the night of Thursday, Sept 24, when some security measures begin to go into effect. If possible, plan to take public transportation on Friday, Sept 25. If you are planning to drive a private vehicle into Center City on Friday, Sept 25, please read the travel guidelines for Sept 25 on the WMOF website: http://www.worldmeeting2015.org/plan-your- visit/travel-information/travel-information-for-congress-visitor/.http://www.worldmeeting2015.org/plan-your- visit/travel-information/travel-information-for-congress-visitor/ Information for Persons with Disabilities/Deaf Community Attending WMOF Congress Events The facilities of the WMOF Congress are physically accessible to wheelchair users. For individuals that are deaf/hard of hearing, a team of sign language interpreters will interpret keynotes, liturgies and breakout sessions. Children with disabilities are welcome to participate in the Youth Congress. Personal Care Attendants for children who need individual support can attend the conference free of charge, but PCAs will need to be screened as volunteers prior to the Congress. There is a designated space within the Youth Congress especially designed for children who may need a quiet rest area or sensory break. 2 For Those Attending the WMOF Papal Events (Sept 26-27) Driving During the Papal Events Given the vehicle restrictions and closed roads, private vehicles are not a viable transportation option for attending the Papal Events. Taxis: After 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Sept 26, only a select number of ADA taxis and UberWAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles) will be able to operate within the Traffic Box. Public Transit During the Papal Events Those who purchased a SEPTA Anywhere Trail Pass as part of their registration for the WMOF Congress (Sept 22-25) may use their Trail Pass on all SEPTA transit throughout the Papal Weekend. They do not need to purchase additional passes for SEPTA travel on the Papal Weekend. For those who do not have the WMOF Congress Trail Pass, the following information applies: Regional Rail: On SEPTA Regional Rail, service will be available to Center City from 18 outlying stations, with trips every half-hour in the morning to the events. Customers using Regional Rail must pre-purchase One Day Regional Rail Passes from your specific station’s ticket office or the sales windows at Jefferson, Suburban or University City Stations to travel on the system. SEPTA subway, trolley & bus service: For revised schedules and fares for SEPTA subway, trolley and bus service, please visit the SEPTA Papal Visit website at www.septa.org/papalvisitphilly.www.septa.org/papalvisitphilly Papal Visit Guide The World Meeting of Families and its partners have released a Papal Visit Guide with walking routes and security checkpoints for both ticketed and non-ticketed attendees. Please consult this map to determine your entry point to the events. The parade route for Sunday, September 27th is expected to be somewhat shorter. These parades mean that all who gather on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (ticketed or not) will have an opportunity to see Pope Francis up close. Forty Jumbotrons, located down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and other locations in the city, will show the events live. Information for Persons with Disabilities/Deaf Community During Papal Events For individuals that are deaf/hard of hearing, sign language interpreters will interpret the programming at Independence Hall, as well as the Festival of Families and the Papal Mass, which will be broadcast on select Jumbotrons. For individuals that are blind or partially sighted, audio description via assistive listening devices will be provided at the Festival of Families and the Papal Mass. There will be a reserved area in Von Colln Memorial Field at 23rd and Pennsylvania Avenue for those needing audio description. To access Von Colln Memorial field a Papal Event Ticket is required. Please RSVP to sr.kschipani@archphila.org if you are blind or partially sighted and will be attending these events. Volunteers will be available to assist pilgrims in wheelchairs and their attendants. There will be available charging stations for electronic wheelchairs at the Red Cross stations. Magnetometers at the security checkpoints will be ADA compliant. Approximately ten percent of all portable restrooms will be ADA compliant as are all water facilities, food service and retail stations.
