We need to make class rules Placemat consensus 1 person in your group draw the following on the large sheet of paper

Each person gets an outside quadrant In your quadrant, write down at least 3 reasonable class rules Share your rules w/ your group Your group will narrow it down to 3 and write them in the middle circle Share rules – they will be posted in the class

Set up SLM SLM-what???? Student Learning Map Acts as an outline or guide for a unit; will be posted in class & online Anatomy Basics SLM

Unit 1 – Anatomy Basics Unit Essential Question – How is the human body organized in order to study it?  Lesson Essential Question  What terminology is used to study the human body?

Anatomical terminology You are responsible for all of these terms We will use them in class but will not necessarily go over all the terms & meanings Quiz over Anatomical & Directional Terms = Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Who at your table had the most recent birthday? Congratulations!!!!! Go get books for your table. You are also responsible for putting them back

Lesson Essential Questions: How are anatomy & physiology related? Read page 2 of Essentials of Human Anatomy & Physiology

On your paper…. In your own words, define anatomy In your own words, define physiology Answer the following… – How are anatomy and physiology related?

Discuss w/ your table Come up with a real life example of the relationship between anatomy and physiology. Be prepared to share your example. Write one of the examples on your paper.

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 Read over your class rules. Sign them. Grab a book off the back counter. Get out the Anatomy Basics work you started yesterday.

Lesson Essential Question: How is the human body organized? Read pgs. 3-4; “Levels of Structural Organization: From Atoms to Organisms”

Copy onto your paper __

Put the following words on the diagram Atom Cell Macromolecule Molecule Organ Organ System Organelle Organism Tissue

Discuss levels of organization ATOM MOLECULE MACROMO LECULE ORGANELLE CELL TISSUE ORGANORGAN SYSTEM ORGANISM

Shoulder partners… Below each level of organization, add an example. The smaller parts should be a part of the next larger one.

Lesson Essential Question: What are the major organ systems of the body and the function of each? The body may be organized by system Make a table – 4 columns: System, Organs, Function, How I’ll remember it – 12 rows: headings, 11 body systems

Homework – due next class Add 20 terms to the Anatomical / Regional Terms Human outline – Place the term on its appropriate place on the body – Example: Write the word “otic” on the ear Do not write on the other side

Get a text book Get out your human outline labeling sheet from last class Do the other side on the major divisions / cavities

The body is also divided into cavities & regions \\Irfsd0c1o0909\bhs\glissons\Anatomy_Physiol ogy\IntroToA&P\01_07Figure-L.jpg \\Irfsd0c1o0909\bhs\glissons\Anatomy_Physiol ogy\IntroToA&P\01_08Figurea-L.jpg \\Irfsd0c1o0909\bhs\glissons\Anatomy_Physiol ogy\IntroToA&P\01_08Figureb-L.jpg

Homeostasis work Read the section on “Homeostasis” in the textbook (p. 12-15) Define the key terms Take notes on how homeostasis is maintained Do a Venn Diagram for negative & positive feedback mechanisms

Get out your systems chart from yesterday Continue working on this

Review of today’s LEQ’s What terminology is used to study the human body? How are anatomy & physiology related? How is the human body organized? What are the major organ systems of the body and the function of each?
