Persuasive writing tells the writer’s opinion and why the reader should agree.

3 What is the goal of persuasive writing?
to state the writer’s opinion to give reasons why the reader should agree to convince the reader to take action or in this case (NOT)

4 What are the parts of a persuasive paragraph?
beginning - states your opinion R middle - gives reasons & examples for your opinion E O end – restate opinion

5 What is the best way to order my reasons?
least-important reason first second-most-important reason next strongest reason last

6 Example Read the following persuasive paragraph.
Find the three reasons for the writer’s opinion. Do you agree or disagree with the opinion?

7 Brush Every Night You should brush you teeth every night before bed. Brushing removes food from your teeth. It keeps them clean and healthy. If you don’t brush enough, you could get cavities. Brushing also keeps you from getting bad breath. You need to brush every morning and every night.
