2 About Us Our Mission To provide affordable and appropriate homes primarily for Aboriginal people on Vancouver Island, and to enhance community partnerships.

3 About Us Our Vision To provide homes primarily for Aboriginal people, where they can have pride and feel connected to traditional values and a community.

4 About Us The Society was originally established to provide safe, affordable housing for families of First Nations ancestry who were in core need of housing in urban centres on Vancouver Island. Since that time the Society and its mandate have expanded into what is now the M’akola Group of Societies, consisting of seven Societies.

5 About Us Our development division is the Mis’kow’aao Development Society We were incorporated March 18 th, 1988 as a Non-Profit Society We specialize in project development, and property management services for market and non-market developments

6 Strategic Planning In 2005 the Board developed a Comprehensive Strategic Plan – defining our areas of focus and effort from 2006 to 2010 Redefining our focus leads us to maximize and leverage our existing assets and abilities to meet our Mission and Vision

7 Strategic Planning M’akola’s 5 Strategic Goals: 1.Provide Quality Housing; 2.Enhancing Partnerships; 3.Addressing Human Resources; 4.Strengthening Governance; 5.Ensuring Sustainable Funding.

8 Experience 867 housing units under management $9.85M Annual Operating Budget $148M assets under ownership (excludes 230 units managed but not owned by M’akola) 65 Full-Time Employees
