8 Books that if shelved correctly would not sit together on the shelf because they are written by different authors but are in the same series or special genre. Examples: 39 Clues Who Was? Candy Apple/Poison Apple Flat Stanley Star Wars Superheroes Princess/Barbie

9 Alphabetical by last name of the person the book is about.

12 Don’t Forget to CHECK OUT before you leave!! Type in your lunch number when we ask for it and place books upside down.

13 Online Catalogs 3 Computers you can use to access the “researcher” which is our online catalog system for searching for books. You can do a title, author, or subject search. Make sure the book is available, write the call number down, and go find the book. You can use the “researcher” at home through the library’s website as well Click on picture to go to the library’s website to access the catalog.

14 Options for when you are done checking out or if you are not checking out… Read a current magazine Read past issues Read your library books you’ve checked out or honor book quietly in the Cozy Corner Feel free to fill out a book recommendation form to “pin” on our board!

15 Books that are not a part of the library collection (cannot be checked out) but can be read in the library if you did not bring back your books. Read a book by another student or class as well!

16 Library Class Meeting Area What do we do?? Book Talks to encourage reading, develop a love for reading, introduce students to new books, author, genres Teach Library Skills Teach Information Literacy Skills Curriculum Tie-Ins with objectives being taught in the classroom Common Sense Media  3 rd Grade: Meets each week for a 15-20 min. lesson then 10 min.  4 th & 5 th : Check outs every other week. One week 30 min. lesson with no check out. Next week 15 min. lesson with 15 min. checkout.
