3  We (and NCPs) can inform you of the opportunities that are available for your science in FP7.  We can help you convert your ideas into a successful research proposal, by  discussing with you the requirements for writing a proposal for an international project,  advising you how to put together a consortium for an international collaborative project, How can we help you? 6 6  Meeting the scientists to find out about their research and opportunities for international projects.  Helping scientists put together FP7 proposals of their own for the current open calls (not many).  Helping scientists to learn from their previous mistakes when writing proposals.  Analysing results for proposals submitted by Serbian scientists so far for FP7 (when we have data). Our current activities Стратегија бироа  Organising training courses on how to write project proposals and other aspects of research skills.

FP7 Future training courses: depends on the demand One-day courses so far Belgrade - 7 October on FP7 proposal writing: Novi Sad - 8 October (over 400 participants) Belgrade - 9 October Nis- 28 October Belgrade - 29 October Kragujevac 30 October Belgrade - 31 October Belgrade - 26 November Novi Sad - 4 December

8 Here’s a typical ‘Mapa puta’ for FP7 involvement: You aim to get yourself known and develop networking. Coordinate your own FP collaborative research project. Send emails to EU scientists to ask about their science. Get a Marie Curie Fellowship to do research abroad. Join an existing research network such as COST. Join someone else’s FP project consortium as a partner. Apply through CORDIS to become a proposal evaluator. Get a CSA (support - RegPot) to improve your capacity. FP7 Get a bilateral research project with an EU partner.

9  Your faculty needs to have a strategic plan to improve its research. I shall give training courses to develop skills for a career in research. Not everyone will be able to take part in FP7 projects, but there are other ways in which you can contribute more effectively to the ERA.  You need to do a SWOT analysis on the quality of your research.  You need to establish whether your research is competitive.  You need to identify opportunities for you to improve your research.  You need to go on training courses to improve your research skills.  You need to take every opportunity to build your EU connections.  You need to sell your science to the rest of the world (good website).  You need to use the services of the bureau to develop your strategy.

How many of you have seen this document (from Dec 2008)?

11  Area: 4.1. Unlocking and developing the research potential of research entities in the EU´s convergence regions and outermost regions - REGPOT-2009-1  The call deadline was 13 February 2009.  We expect the next REGPOT call to be on a small scale again and may even target the West Balkans. FP7  The REGPOT-2010 call should be in autumn 2009.

12 Coordination and support actions and Collaborative projects Maximum score 5 The most important number in FP7 is 5 [petica]!
