3 Overview To provide professional staff with information needed for developing a professional web page utilizing Microsoft Front Page Data obtained from Likert Scale: Positive attitude toward learning about Web site development Lack of ability in developing a professional Web site

4 Objective To create a professional Web site to be utilized within the classroom Focus will be placed on specific skills that will be useful for developing a classroom Web site Linking Microsoft Office products such as a Microsoft Power Point slide show or a Microsoft Word document to a website

5 Rationale Save time Homework, class work, study guides, directions, etc. Create an informative and useful Web site Accessible to parents, absent students, administrators, and even other teachers Microsoft Office products are useful tools for teachers to link off of their websites Teaching lessons Information needed for study and review Brief presentations for parents throughout the school year on classroom events

7 Integration with Microsoft Office  FrontPage has been designed to function like Microsoft Office, so that Office users can get up and running with FrontPage quickly.  Shared toolbars, menus, and tools  Directly post Office documents to webs in FrontPage  Integrated HTML editing with all Office applications  Hyperlink maintenance for Office documents

9 Import Files Allows files to be placed into a web without converting their contents to HTML Useful tool to provide access to other Office documents in their original, native format Allows for hyperlinks to native files Imported files will be opened in their original format

10 Create a hyperlink to an Office document  When the site visitor clicks the hyperlink, the Web browser opens the corresponding application or viewer, and then displays the document  Some Web browsers display the document inside the browser window; other browsers open a separate window.

11 Create a hyperlink continued … 1. In Page view, type the text you want to use as a hyperlink and then select it. 2. Click Hyperlink Do one of the following: If the Office document is in the current web, locate the document and select it. If the Office document is on the local file system, click File, browse to the document, and then select it. Tip: If the Office document is in the current web, click it in the Folder List, and then drag it to the open page where you want the hyperlink.
