6 To begin… For each of the four following texts in this module (Brooks, Tannen, Young, and Lorde), do the following: Examine the titles, and make a prediction about the content of each piece Note the types of texts and genres (New York Times Op-Ed piece versus book excerpt), and make any relevant predictions about the content or rhetorical stance of each piece Examine the brief author biographies provided below, and then imagine how each author’s identity and gender—as described in those biographies—might influence the text’s language, content, or purpose.

9 Gender Spectrum Gender Binary
A linear model, ranging from 100% male to 100% female, with various states of masculine and feminine in between. The gender continuum or matrix is an multidimensional extension of the spectrum that includes additional gender identities outside of the spectrum. The classification of sex and gender into two distinct, opposite and disconnected forms of masculine and feminine. It is one general type of a gender system.
