2. What is Rep Council?

3. is a consultative body to NCCL’s Board of Directors advising the Board on a myriad of issues helping the Board to articulate the vision of NCCL to others Rep Council

4. meets twice a year: November, Thursday evening – Saturday, usually in Chicago Sunday afternoon before the Annual Conference Rep Council terms are 3 years in length. Rep Council

5. elects the at-large Board members approves the NCCL officer candidates who are elected by NCCL’s Professional and General members Rep Council

7. NCCL Officers 3 year terms (ending 2015) serve as officers of NCCL, the Board and the Rep Council.  President – Bill Miller  Vice-president – Mary Jo Waggoner  Secretary – Linda Stryker  Treasurer – Joanie McKeown

8. Board of Directors: Composition  4 Officers (elected by voting members of NCCL)  5 At-large members (elected by Rep Council)  3 Ex-officio members Executive Director of NCCL Episcopal Advisor to NCCL USCCB liaison to NCCL

Board Responsibilities  Chief governing body of NCCL  Sets and monitors the mission, vision, & strategic direction of NCCL  Collaborates with the Representative Council  Monitors NCCL’s financial well-being  Makes all official public position statements  Hires and evaluates the Executive Director.

12. 1 DCL from each province, representing all the DCL members from the province 1 PCL from each province, representing all the PCL members from the province 1 rep from each Partner organization, each Forum, each Federation and 2 Eastern Church reps Other reps that the Board deems necessary Members of the Board are ex officio members Reps must be Professional members of NCCL Rep Council

Three Membership Types Do you exercise catechetical leadership at the national, diocesan/eparchial, parish, academic, or publishing level? no Associate member yes Do you have a master’s degree in the field? yes Professional member no Have you been appointed to a diocesan/eparchial catechetical position by an appropriate ecclesiastical authority? yes Professional member no Have you been professionally certified as a PCL by NCCL or another entity granted that right by the USCCB-CCA? yes Professional member General member no

In other words: Membership Type is determined by role/responsibility and formation/education All DCLs (Diocesan Catechetical Leaders) are Professional PCLs are either Professional or General (depending on their level of education/formation) Academic members (college/university level) are Professional or Associate (depending on their role/responsibility) Authors and publisher members could be Professional, General, or Associate, depending on their role/responsibility and formation/education

Members of NCCL  All members may retain their membership type upon retirement from active ministry  All members may serve on committees if they meet that committee’s eligibility requirements  Professional and General members may vote in elections and on other matters, except:  Only Professional members vote on By-law changes  Only Professional members may serve on Rep Council and the Board

17. How do Reps fulfill their responsibilities?
