The annual popcorn sale is critical in the continued success of your council and to many, many units across the Lincoln Heritage Council. The popcorn sale this year is going to be even more critical for all of us and we need every unit to participate! 4 Fall 2013 Wood Badge 4 First Weekend: September 13-15 - Camp Crooked Creek Second Weekend: October 11-13– Tunnel Mill Wood Badge is a world-class leadership development program intended for all Scout leaders who have completed the basic training for their position. Sessions are all day and required.

5 Fire at Will 5 Fire at Will is a shooting weekend for Venturing youth sponsored by the Lincoln Heritage Venturing Officers Association. This event is for Venturers or Boy Scouts who meet the age requirements for Venturing. Participants will be able to shoot in a variety of disciplines while working towards Venturing Shooting Sports Award requirements. This event will be capped at 96 shooters, so register early! Friday September 13 th - Sunday September 15 th Cost $35 per shooter/ Registration available online or at the Sam Swope Scout Center: Must register by August 30, 2013! Location: Camp Crooked Creek

6 Operation Rescue 6 Operation Rescue will be A New Adventure! Plan now for your unit to participate in this event. You won’t want to miss this event! October 18-20 2013 Camp Loucon

7 Haunted Woods 2013 & 2014 7 Saturday, October 26, 2013 Registration Begins at 11:00AM Haunted Woods is a FUN event for Cub Scouts and their families. Events include: BB guns, Archery, sling shots, face painting, pumpkin painting, and hiking. A limited space available for camping Saturday. Dress for the weather. Haunted Woods is held rain or shine. 8 Commissioner Service 8 Commissioners are the communication conduit for unit leaders to the Council. Commissioners are experienced Scouters who help units access all the services that a local council offers.

13 Training 2013 WHAT MAKES A TRAINED LEADER? ADULT LEADER BASIC TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Youth Protection Training (YPT) (EL) - is a joining requirement for ALL leaders and must be taken every two years. Venturing Leaders must take Venturing YPT (EL) NOTE: Basic Training is required for ALL Direct Contact Leaders. CUB SCOUT LEADERS Cub Leader Specific Training (EL) BOY SCOUT/VARSITY SCOUT Leader Specific (or Troop Committee Challenge (EL) for Committee) Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills (not required for committee) VENTURING Venturing Leader Specific Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills (for outdoor Crews only) SEA SCOUT Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic (EL = Available on E-Learning page www.myscouting.org)www.myscouting.org 13

16 Silver Beaver 2014 16 The Silver Beaver Award is presented upon action of a Council Executive Board. This award is for outstanding service to youth within the Council or for outstanding longtime service to youth by a registered Scouter residing within that Council. Leaders must be nominated no later than December 1, 2013. We will be presenting the Awards: Saturday, February 8, 2014

17 Council Youth Court of Honor 2014 To honor the Class of 2014 Eagle Scouts, Silver Awards, Quartermasters, Awards of Heroism and Merit, and the Venturing Leadership Award, the Council calls these honored youth together to show our pride in their achievements. Saturday, March 1, 2014 17

18 Spring 2014 Powder Horn 18 The Powder Horn course is designed to help the troop, team, or crew by exposing older Scouts, Venturers, and adult leaders to safely conducted outdoor/high-adventure activities of a fun and challenging nature. The course presenters are expert consultants, from inside and outside of Scouting, in each outdoor high adventure activity. It is not a certification event. It is for any youth or adult interested in experiencing a unit-level, high-adventure program. 2014: First Weekend: March 7-9 (CCC) Second Weekend: March 28-30 (TMR)

20 Camp Card Sale 2014 Start planning now. Camp cards are a great way for your Scouts to pay their way to Summer camp. The card sells for $5 and the Scout keeps $2.50 per card. Sale Starts March 1st 2013 Sale Ends May 9th, 2014 20

21 Scout-Strong 5K Run and adVENTURE Race A brand new event for the Lincoln Heritage Council! The Scout-Strong 5K Run and adVENTURE Race will be designed for participants of all abilities and encourage Venturers to work towards earning their Sports Bronze and Quest awards. Additional information will be distributed at the University of Scouting. October 4, 2014 Location to be Announced 21

22 2014 Day Camps 22 Day Camp is a great summer activity for Cub Scouts. It is a week-long experience where Cub Scouts can shoot BB guns, bows and arrows, learn about nature, do leatherwork and crafts, play games, sing songs, and do many more activities. *17 Day Camps will be conducted in June and July throughout the 64 counties in the Lincoln Heritage Council. 27 2014 Webelos Resident Camp 27 At Webelos Resident Camp, Scouts will participate in a variety of activities, including shooting sports, swimming, fishing, Scout skills, and much more. Many of these activities will help Scouts earn various Webelos activity badges and belt loops. Nights will be campfires, fun and games, and the tranquility of the Tunnel Mill, Roy C Manchester and Camp Crooked Creek. 28 2014 Cub Resident Camp 28 At Cub Resident Camp, Scouts will participate in a variety of activities, including shooting sports, swimming, fishing, Scout skills, and much more. Many of these activities will help Scouts earn various cub requirements and belt loops. Nights will be campfires, fun and games, and the tranquility of Camp Crooked Creek, Tunnel Mill and Roy C Manchester. 29 2014 National Youth Leadership Training 29 NYLT brings together youth leaders from throughout our council to learn and apply the skills they need to be effective leaders in their Troops, Crews, Ships and Teams. NYLT discusses team development and leadership strategies to enable units to reach their highest performance level Session 1: June 8-13(TMR) Session 2: June 29-July4(RCM) Session 3: July 21-26(TMR)

30 COPE & Climbing 30 The Lincoln Heritage Council offers various adventures for troops, teams and crews. Your unit can make reservations to use the Climbing/Rappelling Tower, Low COPE Team- building Course or the High-Ropes Personal Challenge Course. You are provided with facilitators and all of the equipment you need to complete you adventure at the COPE & Climbing area at Camp Crooked Creek. You can also reserve the course for non-Scout functions such as: -Birthday parties- Corporate Getaways -Family Reunions- Church Groups -Much More

31 Nightwatch 2014 Nightwatch is an all night adventure in Louisville! The co-ed group of participants are escorted around in busses taking part in many exciting activities. Additional information will be available Spring 2014. 31 Friday Evening April 25 th - Saturday Morning April 26 th
