12. Class work & Homework – This will be checked each day. Although an actual grade will not be given, students will receive a notation on the clipboard for incomplete work. In addition it will be noted on the report card. *Completing the homework will benefit your child by teaching them responsibility, and helps them succeed both in school as well as on the FCAT. Relax and Remember It’s Your Child’s Homework, not yours !

13. PRACTICE Basic Multiplication Facts!!! Use real money and have your child count it to make change. While you are cutting up a pizza, pie, or cake, talk about fractions. Create a weekly graph about temperature and find the average. Build something together using standard and metric measurements.

14. Read to your child. Take turns reading to each other. Discuss what is happening in the book and try to predict what might happen next. Provide a variety of reading materials. Encourage your child to journal write. Visit the library frequently with your child.

15. Know what is expected of your child at his/her grade level, and in each subject area Teach by example. When you show that you value learning, children will learn to value it too. Utilize the Internet to practice FCAT skills

16. Encourage your child to eat nutritious meals and snacks Make sure your child gets plenty of rest each school night. Keep on a regular schedule. Review HW each night and check your child’s agenda book for assignments or communication from teacher. **Make sure your child arrives to school on time. Our day starts promptly at 8:00 AM.
