1 Can you Equate? NOISE LEVEL 1 ½ Standard 5.NG.4.a. Interpret product (a/b) x q as a part of a partition of q into b equal parts; equivalently, as a result of a sequence of operations a x q/b. In general, (a /b) x (c /d)=ac/bd. Materials Equate Game Score Sheet Pencil Calculator Directions: 1.Listen to the leader read the task sheet. 2.As a group, review the “Defining Terminology” sheet. 3.Each player needs a rack to hold their 9 tiles. 4.Draw 9 tiles from the bag. 5.The first player to start is the player in the northeast corner of their table. Play continues in a clockwise rotation. 6.Equations can only have ONE equal symbol and MUST be made either horizontally or vertically. 7.A player earns points for each value in the bottom right hand corner of the tile times the 2E or 3E, 3S or 3S value on the board for each tile that lands on this symbol (example: +1 x 2E=2 points). 8.Remember to keep your score by writing your equation on the score sheet along with the points you earned during your turn. 9.The player with the highest score at the end of the rotation wins.

3 Sharpening Your Skills 1.Listen to leader read task sheet. 2.Begin by looking at your objectives for this week. Here are a list of priorities you should have on your Weekly Objectives. Write your goals on goals chart. All items should be saved on the S drive Vocabulary test for this week Passport to Reading CHD Report Incomplete Station Work 3. If you are struggling with a skill please write it on a post-it and place on Parking lot. 4.When there is only 5 minutes left record what you accomplished on your Weekly what you accomplished on your Weekly Objectives and goal chart during the station. 5 Roots, Stems, and Leaves Project Connection Project Greenhouse Irwin Gardens/P2P Sc 5.4.3 Observe and explain that some organisms are made of a collection of similar cells that benefit from cooperating. Sc 5.4.7 Explain that living things, such as plants and animals, differ in their characteristics, and that sometimes these differences can give members of these groups (plants and animals) an advantage in surviving and reproducing. NOISE LEVEL 1 Materials Pencil Journal of Knowledge Science textbook Science worksheet pages 41/42 1.Listen to the Station Manager read the task sheet. 2.Gather your materials. 3.With a partner or alone read (Jigsaw) and take notes in your Journal on a different section of the chapter and be prepared to share out what you learned: 1.How do a Plant’s Parts Help it to Survive? Pages A30 and A31 2.How are Stems Similar? Pages A32 and A33 3.What are Leaves? Page A34 and A35 4.Share your notes from your section with the group. Extension Activity: Fill out the worksheet pages or write a reflection on this project in your Journal.

6 Farming for Fluency Materials Reading passage Computer Pencil NOISE LEVEL 1 Standards 5.RF.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. 5.RF.4.a. Fluency: Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding. 5.RF.4.c. Fluency: Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary. Directions: 1.Listen to the leader read the task sheet. 2.Go to Voki Classroom on your teacher’s website. 3.Choose “Farming for Fluency.” 4.Read your assigned fluency passage ONE time while recording on Voki. 5.Answer the comprehension questions. You may reread the passage as needed. Extension Activity: Go to Treasures on-line from Mrs. Spear’s website and read about Plant Breeding.

7 Flower Capacity 1.Listen to manager read task on this task sheet. 2.Your goal in this station is to understand compare the similarities and differences of liters and cm 3. 3.First, make sure your milk carton is clean and ready to fill. 4.Now, use the bottle of water and fill the milk carton to the bend (not the top). Pour the water into measuring cup and record the amount in Liters on your record sheet. 5.Next, measure that same space using the formula for Volume with your answer in cm 3. V=l x w x h 6.Record your measurements and write a brief explanation comparing liters and centimeters. 7.Now fill the milk carton to the line with soil. Read the back of the flower packet to determine how deep to plant the seed. Noise Level 1 1/2 MA.5.5.4 2000 Find the surface area and volume of rectangular solids using appropriate units. Materials needed Water, measuring cup, centimeter ruler, soil, seed, and milk carton Project Connection: Irwin Gardens and P2P
