4 Achievements 2008-9 Generic Training 5 module course delivered twice Local authority officers only 76 attendees from 26 London Boroughs Course covered –Introduction to travel planning –Preparing a travel plan –Securing a travel plan –Implementation –Residential travel plans

5 Achievements 2008-9 Bespoke Training Local authorities only 10 boroughs invited - willingness or opportunity 7 took part Training included –General travel plan training –Policy support –Facilitating who does what? in the council –Getting different teams together – 1 st time! –Case study sharing

6 Achievements 2008-9 Networks 4 existing regional networks & 2 sub-regional networks Presentations and Question and answer sessions Getting the message out to a wider range of stakeholders Conference Local authorities, developers and consultancies Increase awareness for development related travel plans Share best practice and policy 165 attendees (60:40 split)

7 Achievements 2008-9 Guidance notes 6 sets of guidance notes and 4 case study reports produced –Summaries of residential & workplace guides –Travel planning in local policy –The relationship between the TP and TA –Monitoring –Case studies Website Technical problems – not launched – due end July

8 Lessons learned Generic - Advanced notification - Too many modules/too integrated - too generic! Bespoke- Finding the right person is hard - Getting the right people to attend vital - Follow up needed Networks - great opportunities for new audience - Can focus on current topics - Must know membership in advance Guidance notes - Were invaluable Conference - Overall success – needs a better theme

9 2009 -10 Two themes for the year –The value of travel plans –Bringing accountability to the TA Generic Training will be more specialist focused/clinics –Effective targets –Effective measures –Monitoring –Enforcement –Securing Travel Plans –Policy –Enforcement

10 2009 - 10 Generic training being more audience focussed – e.g. developers, councillors, DC officers, Transport Planners etc Bespoke training – last years boroughs continued support Bespoke training – Set up a mentoring programme Networking – focussing on major institutions Website – Get it up and running Website – include forums and info exchange Conference – relate back to theme for the year Conference – Less lecture based more interactive/tutorial
