3 2 Objectives: 1. To learn how to use a tool that God has put into our world and daily lives. Learn how to both use it and appreciate what a tremendous gift that God has given us.

4 3 Objectives: 2. To know various computer terminology and know how information is processed using a computer system.

5 4 Objectives: 3. To be comfortable and confident in the operation and use of computers.

6 5 Objectives: 4. To demonstrate ability to type using the touch typing techniques based on teacher observation throughout the course.

7 6 Objectives: 5. To demonstrate knowledge of the basic skills needed in keyboarding by passing quizzes of the basic rules and procedures.

8 7 Objectives: 6. To develop the techniques of proofreading.

9 8 Objectives: 7. To type some common personal and business applications

10 9 Objectives: 8. To demonstrate the ability to use the Internet search and find appropriate information.

11 10 Objectives: 9. To demonstrate the ability to use PowerPoint to create a presentation.

12 11 Objectives: 10. To demonstrate the ability to use Excel to create a spreadsheet.

13 12 Materials You Will Need: Notebook to keep an organized set of notes and organized set of handouts.

16 15 The percentage grading scale used for quizzes will be: 96 to 100 A 91 to 95 A- 87 to 90 B+ 84 to 86 B 81 to 83 B- 77 to 80 C+ 74 to 76 C 71 to 73 C- 67 to 70 D+ 64 to 66 D 60 to 63 D-

17 16 You must have a minimum number of production assignments completed second quarter or your quarter grade is automatically an F.

18 17 If you fall behind you may have to get additional time in the computer lab. Here are your four options: 1) use a study hall—get a note from the instructor before the period you want to come 2) use a club period—these are not very long; get a note from the instructor before 7 th period 3) come before school—usually 7:00 in the lab or in the library 4) come after school—library is open until 4:00; check with an instructor to see if a lab will be open
